Me and my fiance just moved into an apartment with a dog park and are looking to adopt another dog. Our Lab is 9 yrs old and we think we should get another dog around his age so they can live out their 'golden years' together.

So what i am trying to get at: Does anyone know someone that is thinking of giving up their lab? Or does anyone know of a good lab rescue in North Texas?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Have you looked online to see if there are any rescue's in the area? That is how I found information in my area. I also contacted my local SPCA and they were very helpful in giving me information on rescue groups. I think going through the SPCA would be the best way because they would probably be the most reputable. Good luck and I think it is great that you are looking into adopting a needy Lab.

Oh, I have also found a lot of luck on petfinder.com. You can look up animals by location as well. I hope that this helps and sorry that it is such a late response. Keep us posted on your search. What is your pups name? He is a lucky boy to have owners that want him to enjoy his golden years with a companion!

We looked on Petfinder and found a Lab we wanted but the adoption fee was outrageous. Then we got a phone call from a family member who met a lady that was looking for someone to take her 5 mth old Lab. So we went and checked him out and picked him up that night! We got really lucky, he is an amazing puppy! I think it was meant to be

Oh and BTW, I know we were looking for an older lab but this lil guy needed a new home and he has gotten along GREAT with our other dog. We walk him morning, noon, and night to get him enough exercise.

We wanted also to get an older lab to keep Otis company...When we took Otis for his yearly check-up at the vets... they had a lab up for adoption...he was around 5 mths old also something happened to him where he does not have his ear flaps. We fell in love with him as soon as we saw him...the vet let us bring him home for a week to see how Otis would get along with him...they get along great. We have had him since October and they are best friends...we named him Shadow cause he follows otis everywhere.
