I’ve reviewed plenty of nice things for dogs over the last couple of years but now it’s time for something for the humans….well, it’s for the dogs too….kind of.

As you may already know, I love taking photos of Monty. I take 100’s every month. Sometimes a photo just isn’t enough though and I’ll resort to using the video on my point and shoot digital camera. It does an okay (ish) job but the videos are a bit grainy, the sound is pretty poor and it rapidly fills up my memory card. Oh and watching the videos on my camera rapidly eats up the battery.

This is where the Flip Video Camera comes in. It fills the gap between using you digital camera or phone for videos and bulky, high priced traditional video cameras.

The Flip Video Camera is pocket sized, lightweight and ridiculously easy to use. I didn’t even have to look at the instructions booklet. Not even once. Coming from someone who struggles to change the ringtone on his phone, that’s really something!

Flipshare

The Flip Video Camera comes with some amazing software called Flipshare already installed on the camera. You just plug your camera into your computer using the flip-out USB arm and you’re away.

The software really is superb. It quickly and easily allows you to save and organize and share your videos on Facebook, Youtube and other Social Media sites all at the click of a button. If you want  to share your videos privately, Flipshare lets you create attachment-free emails to share with your family and friends. It even allows you to capture photos from videos. Beautifully simple!

Specifications:

The specifications for the Flip Mino Video Camera are pretty much the same as for the Flip Ultra HD Video Camera (8MB). The only significant difference is the size. The Flip Mino is smaller and lighter.

My Verdict

If you’re looking for a small, easy to use video camera, the Flip camera is definitely the camera for you.

Pros

Fun and easy to use. Looks great. The battery life is far longer than I expected from a video camera. Also, I love the 2 inch LCD screen. Excellent sound quality for such a compact video camera.

Cons

The video quality isn’t so great on videos made in the dark. Not really a problem though and I think it’s probably the same with most video cameras.

Overall, the Flip Video Camera is an excellent, easy to use camera and I highly recommend it.
